Pete Friedrich joined CIPS in 2008, and is the architect behind the strongest alternate newspaper delivery operation in the United States. Pete started his career serving our country in the military where he was one of the top air-traffic controllers at some of the world’s busiest Air Force bases. He started his civilian career as Vice President of Commercial Lending at Security Pacific Bank. In 1992, one of his top banking clients, Industrial Printing Group, recruited him to run their company as General Manager/Vice President of Operations where he reorganized the operation end to end, resulting in the turnaround of a losing venture, and then tripling revenue over the next 13 years. In 2005, Pete joined Towne All Points Communications as Vice President of Operations and was responsible for administering and reorganizing 3 national distribution centers encompassing 350,000 sq/ft of warehousing, production fulfillment and mailing operations, handling millions of packages per week, and servicing national clients from coast to coast that included Secure Horizons, Sprint, AIG, Albertsons, and the largest mortgage lenders in the country. In 2008, Pete joined CIPS and, utilizing his expertise in national fulfillment and logistics, and having a different view of technology available in the marketplace, quickly overhauled every aspect of the operation, from order management, to fulfillment, to delivery, to Quality Assurance, to use of data and technology to gain maximum efficiencies. He recruited and developed the finest management team in the alternate delivery industry made up of an ideal blend of newspaper circulation talent and veterans from the national fulfillment and logistics industry. CIPS’ success has been driven by Pete’s ability to look at the industry from an outsider’s perspective and see that the lack of technology, data driven processes and overall accountability had prevented the alternate delivery industry from reaching the level of competence that our clients expect and pay for. Based on his financial experience, coupled with his operational expertise and wisdom, Pete developed a management team that brings a degree of professionalism previously unseen in the newspaper industry.
